Ratuva’s debut try

- By TALEI MATAIRAKULA

SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua winger Junior Ratuva marked his Super Rugby Pacific debut with a try against Moana Pasifika in a fierce battle in Melbourne, Australia.

Ratuva scored the Drua’s last try in their 36-39 loss to Moana Pasifika in Super Round on Saturday.

The replacement winger was running in support for Simione Kuruvoli who was racing for the tryline, and he did not expect what happened next.

“I wasn’t expecting Simi to pass me that ball, I was just there to celebrate Simi’s try but next thing you know, he passed me the ball and I’m under the post so, it was good,” he shared.

“It was good, even though we did not get the win, I’m happy with the boys and how we performed today. This week we get back to the drawing board, fix what we need to fix and get back stronger. They were tough side just what we were expecting during the week.

“I did alright, I’d probably give it an 8 out of 10.”

He hopes to get more game time this weekend when the Drua take in the defending champions Crusaders which has also suffered back-to-back losses this season so far.

“Next week will be a good battle for us against the Crusaders so it will be a good one. To all our supporters, families and friends, we appreciate all the support, and we hope to see you all in Lautoka against the Crusaders.”

Last season, the Drua created history when they defeated the mighty Crusaders at Churchill Park in Lautoka, marking an unforgettable experience for the team and everyone who attended.

They square up again on Saturday at the same venue at 1.05pm.
