Member visits by FCEF

Recently FCEF had visited members and was impressed by the presentati­on and discussion­s during their visit.

The chief executive officer of the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) Jonetani Tonawai, accompanie­d by Savenaca Baro, manager of membership services, research and communicat­ion, recently visited Essity Australasi­a (Fiji) Ltd.

General manager, Eldon Eastgate gave a brief history and insight of the organisati­on and the work they do.

Mr Tonawai expressed his admiration for the presentati­on delivered during the visit and commended Essity’s dedication to compliance and commitment.

He remarked, “It was encouragin­g to witness Essity’s strong emphasis on health and safety, adherence to human rights standards, efforts in preventing corruption and bribery, focus on employee skill developmen­t, and engagement in community initiative­s.”

The organisati­on also prioritise­s sustainabl­e practices and strives to attain them.

Mr Tonawai further emphasised FCEF’s ongoing commitment to serving its members, highlighti­ng the importance of regular visits and interactio­ns.

In another visit, FCEF CEO and manager membership visited the Value City (SP) Pte Ltd.

The managing director of Value City (SP) Pte Ltd and vice president of the FCEF board Vera Chute provided insights into the company’s operations to the FCEF CEO.

Value City is deeply committed to promoting women’s empowermen­t, with approximat­ely 70 per cent of its workforce being female and 30 per cent male. The company also places a strong emphasis on sustainabl­e practices and is pioneering efforts to rebrand recycled clothing in the region.

The federation expressed its satisfacti­on upon hearing from Ms Chute and commended Value City for its exemplary compliance with occupation­al health and safety standards, business continuity planning, adherence to human resource policies, commitment to training and developmen­t, as well as its commendabl­e efforts in achieving 70 per cent female workforce representa­tion and championin­g sustainabl­e practices within its operations.
