Repair work saves tank
WE are excited to announce the successful completion of the repair of a 40,000-litre water tank at Vanuavatu District School.
The school was able to secure 60 bags of cement and 10 sheets of mesh to address the risk of collapse the water tank was facing.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Vanuavatu district rep Joji Mate and the community of Vanuavatu for their invaluable support in this endeavour.
Special recognition goes to our dedicated Fiji-based directors, led by Ana Domoni, along with Jesoni Vitusagavulu and Semi Tukana, both hailing from Vanuavatu, for their tireless efforts in making this project a reality.
The water tank, originally constructed in the 1980s, had been plagued by leaks, causing inconvenience to the school community.
However, through this initiative, our aim is to ensure a reliable water supply for both teachers and students.
Furthermore, this project will grant students access to essential sanitation facilities, such as flushing toilets and handwashing basins in the dining hall, enhancing their overall wellbeing.
The identification of critical needs during initial site visits to Vanuavatu by director Dr Gina Balawanilotu and Ratu Isikeli Mara underscores the significance of this project in addressing pressing issues and its role in climate change mitigation.
By enhancing the living conditions of the school community, we are actively making a positive impact on their lives.
We take immense pride in our involvement in this significant project and express our deep appreciation for the collaborative efforts and support of all those involved.
Together, we are dedicated to creating a brighter future for Vanuavatu District School, fostering a conducive environment for learning and growth.
