Teams flourish with team-building skills
WITH less than 10 days to go on the clock, Victoria Wines, a prominent player in the beverage industry, is taking to the water to boost teambuilding skills in the run-up to the Simple Green Business House Regatta – West Series.
Team captain Emma Faletoese says the timing is perfect.
“We’ve just finalised our distribution deal earlier this year with Corona Beer who is sponsoring our team for the regatta, the brand is synonymous with the beach and celebrates time outdoors,” Faletoese said.
“The opportunity for team building as well as fostering leadership skills in a unique and challenging environment got our attention.”
Every member of the team was brought together by Faletoese, who explained the team is making a collective effort to navigate challenges on the water.
“We’re communicating out there and we’re adapting which is really an extension of how we’re already working here at Victoria Wines.
“The key for us is collaboration and moving forward together, teamwork makes the dream work.”
Faletoese said the Simple Green Business House Regatta – West Series is contributing to the overall wellbeing and work-life balance of Victoria Wines.
“The experience so far has been amazing, the team has been bonding outside of the workplace environment and it is cultivating teamwork and leadership which is important to our personal and professional growth as a team.”
Meanwhile, Joyce Aviation, led by Team Captain Jo-Ann Murray says the group experience to date has been “a great learning curve.”
“It’s definitely peaked a lot of interest amongst the team and for most of us, it’s the first time we’re participating in the sport of outrigger canoeing. It’s teaching us that to be good leaders, we’ve got to be good followers first and not just in the canoe.”
Murray added training challenges are helping improve team dynamics.
“We have a very open dialogue when it comes to our performance on the water so we’ve not yet encountered a challenge we can’t handle. In the workplace, that has translated into improved interpersonal relations and general performance of our departments.
“The regatta has quickly become a much-needed release from the demands of the workplace and it’s contributing effectively to our daily operations.”
Registrations to the Simple Green Business House Regatta West Series has been extended by public demand with an entry fee of FJ$1000.00 per team.
