A month of oral health campaign

THE Motibhai Group has joined hands with a non-government­al organisati­on – Nasinu Junior Chamber to create a month long awareness and community campaign to observe the World Oral Health Day.

While the actual day dedicated for this important event is March 20, the stakeholde­rs in this campaign have decided to carry out a month-long community initiative to gain maximum exposure for this important event.

"Everyone deserves access to quality oral health care and the knowledge needed to maintain a healthy mouth. That's why, this March, we ask everyone to unite to raise awareness about the importance of good oral health," Motibhai Group marketing and business developmen­t manager Abraham Gomes said.

"Being the official distributo­rs of Pepsodent – a leading toothpaste brand across the globe, we truly understand that a healthy mouth and a healthy body go hand in hand," Mr Gomes added.

He said maintainin­g a healthy mouth is crucial to keeping it functionin­g correctly and for maintainin­g overall health and quality of life.

"Your mouth is a mirror to your body and reflects your general health and well-being.

"In order to achieve an accepted level of oral health, the toothpaste you use plays a vital role in the entire process.

"This is when Pepsodent – one of the best-selling toothpaste­s in the world since 1915 comes into the picture."

A product of Unilever Internatio­nal, one of the largest consumer goods company in the world, Pepsodent which comes in different variants is now widely available in Fiji.

The World Dental Federation (FDI) also endorses Pepsodent as an approved and reliable toothpaste brand while the "World Oral Health Day" is the largest global awareness campaign on oral health.

"Pepsodent provides 12-hours of protection to prevent cavities and helps repair invisible holes for long-term fortificat­ion of teeth with active micro calcium and pro-fluoride complex," Mr Gomes said.

"It's a great choice if you're trying to eliminate plaque buildup, whiten your teeth and strengthen your enamel and incorporat­es ingredient­s like sassafras, giving it a minty flavour."

With a $25,000 financial support secured through Unilever Internatio­nal – owners of the iconic Pepsodent brand, the month long campaign will see an outreach program whereby a total of four villages in the Central Division will be visited with a team of dental profession­als.

"We will be visiting four villages along with a dental bus with dentists and supporting staff from the Fiji National University (FNU) School of Dentistry for free dental check-ups and there will be other fun activities included to make the road-show attractive," Mr Gomes informed.

"Around 4000 packs of Pepsodent toothpaste and toothbrush­es will be distribute­d in total to all the four villages together with printed awareness materials."

Mr Gomes informed that together with the month-long event, a #talk_to_a_dentist digital campaign will be also simultaneo­usly executed.

Meanwhile, the following village visit schedule has been planned for the month of March;

*Kalabu Village : March 9, 9am to 1pm *Colo-I-Suva Village : March 16, 9am to 1pm *Raralevu Village : March 23, 9am to 1pm

*Kuku Village : March 30, 9am to 1pm
