- By WATA SHAW

FANS attending the Fijian Drua match against Crusaders today at Churchill Park, Lautoka, will have the exclusive opportunity to witness the premiere of the team’s new theme song by local band, Inside Out.

Titled Drua, the anthem was written, composed, and produced by the band, drawing inspiration from the captivating ‘iBole’, the official war cry of the Fijian Drua which is performed before every game.

Band lead singer and director Apakuki Nalawa, commonly known as Kuki, said the partnership was a significant milestone for InsideOut, marking their first collaboration with a national sporting team.

“We can’t wait for Super Rugby fans to experience the anthem and feel the passion and energy it embodies,” Nalawa said.

“As InsideOut continues to celebrate Fiji’s rich cultural heritage through their music, the collaboration with the Fijian Drua signifies a powerful fusion of sports and art, showcasing the unity and pride of the Fijian people.”

Nalawa says Drua promises to resonate deeply with both rugby enthusiasts and fans of Fijian music worldwide.

Fijian Drua head of commercial and marketing, Shane Hussein said the song would become the rallying call for players, fans, and friends alike as they continue their Super Rugby Pacific journey.

“The collaboration and the entire Fijian Drua franchise, including the men’s and women’s players were delighted with this song.” Hussein said.

Meanwhile, the Fijian Drua players were treated to a live performance by the band at their base camp in Legalega, Nadi on Thursday.

The Fijian Drua will play Crusaders this afternoon at 1.05pm in Lautoka.
