Weather fails to deter ruggers

THE Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Rugby League South-Eastern Zone commenced successful­ly yesterday, despite unfavorabl­e weather.

FSSRL media officer Lai Corerega said the school teams showed great determinat­ion and commitment by participat­ing in the competitio­n despite the challenges posed by the weather in round three.

“Teams from both the Southeast and Western zones have been delivering remarkable performanc­es in the past two rounds, indicating that they are well-prepared for the upcoming eliminatio­n rounds,” said Corerega.

“The top two teams from this round will proceed to the zone quarter-finals next week.

The girls’ competitio­n, known as the Pherrus Trophy, is also proving to be highly competitiv­e, with Namosi seeking to defend its title against strong contenders such as Naitasiri.

In the schoolboys’ competitio­n, prominent teams such as Nasinu Panthers, QVS, RKS, and newcomers Bua Sea Eagles are standing expected to deliver exciting matches in the upcoming quarter-finals.

The organisers expressed their gratitude to sponsors Vodafone and Pherrus for their support, emphasisin­g that the competitio­n would not have been possible without their backing.
