Tabadamu 7s could hold key for inaugural champions

THE battle for the inaugural Fiji Bitter 7s Rugby Series title heats up with the first of two final tournament­s at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori this week.

The Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s is the first tournament of the last leg of the series and will feature 64 teams competing over two days on Friday and Saturday.

The last tournament in the series will be the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament after which the crowning of the series champions will be done. The winner will collect $10,000 while the runners-up take home $5000. The third-placed team pockets $3000.

Heading to Nausori this weekend, BLK Lavidi Brothers lead the series table with 614.550 points. Lavidi Brothers have been the most consistent team in the past 10 tournament­s, having won cup titles at the Savusavu 7s and Kadavu 7s tournament­s. The team has been runnersup at the Nahehevia 7s, Lomaiviti 7s, Labasa 7s and Matasao 7s tournament­s.

In second place is Police Blues which won the Wairiki 7s on Taveuni, Yasawa 7s and Malake 7s tournament­s. The side has amassed 439.700 points despite missing the Nahehevia and Nawaka 7s tournament­s.

In third place is Mataso 7s winners Dominion Brothers. The side also finished runners-up at the Savusavu 7s. They have 421.970 points to their name.
