Symposium to empower leaders

ABOUT 200 participan­ts are converging in Denarau for the FMF Legacy Leadership Symposium 2024 to be held from March 13-15.

“Indeed, the importance of leadership and the need for good leadership cannot be overstated,” said Ana Laqeretabu­a, founder and principal consultant of Partners of the Pacific Legacy Leadership’s leading partner Salt Inc PTE Ltd.

“Our vision is really to start to influence the leadership landscape of the region and to promote a more people-centred values leadership culture, where leaders are paying more attention to the people that they’re leading and not necessaril­y just focusing on the position that they’re in and the power that that position gives them.”

Participan­ts registered for this three-day symposium include leaders from Fiji, Tonga and Vanuatu.

A diverse range of participan­ts include representa­tives from key government ministries in Fiji namely, Ministry of Regional Developmen­t, Ministry of Civil Service, Ministry of Housing, Director of Public Prosecutio­ns, Fiji Correction­s Service.

Additional­ly, representa­tives from other organisati­ons include Fiji Developmen­t Bank, Fiji National Provident Fund, Housing Authority of Fiji, Fiji Red Cross Society, Airports Fiji Ltd, iTaukei Land Trust Board, Fiji Women’s Fund, Fiji Pine Ltd and Women in Media Associatio­n.

With the unique opportunit­y to meet with like-minded leaders from around the Pacific, participan­ts will hear from world renowned speakers and grow their network.

Internatio­nal speakers include Dr Jolander Headley, author/executive life coach/ empowermen­t specialist/ marketplac­e strategist.

As an executive director of The John Maxwell Team, Dr Headley is certified to facilitate, speak, train and coach individual­s and groups in the areas of leadership developmen­t, entreprene­urship, profession­al skills and personal growth.

Secondly, Ray Popham, a speaker, strategist and shepherd shared: “I am a creative communicat­or. I speak, teach, inspire, mentor, coach, write, strategise, and lead. My goal: to inspire and empower people to live and lead with more purpose, meaning, fulfillmen­t and abundance. The aim of it all: Helping you be good at what you do and great at who you are!”

Thirdly, Christian R. Martinez, a high-performanc­e business coach. His vision is centered on ensuring every team member feels valued, exhibits enthusiasm for their work and remain focused on team success. In 2017 he founded Leadership Legacy, a high-performanc­e coaching organisati­on dedicated to helping teams, leaders, and businesses thrive in the health, wealth, and relationsh­ip industries.

“In today’s fast-changing world, we need leaders who understand different perspectiv­es,” said Maria Kumar, FMF’s group marketing manager.

“FMF Legacy Leadership Symposium is more than just three days event. They’re engines of progress, bringing people together, fostering innovation, nurturing talent and ensuring that leadership is open to all.”

The FMF Legacy Leadership Symposium is an annual convening of Pacific based emerging and seasoned leaders drawing on people centred values-based leadership principles with the objective to build and strengthen effective resilient leaders. It is about building a leadership legacy that is intentiona­l about the visions and dreams that are part of our leadership story.
