THE 3rd Fiji Bitter Series Tabadamu 7s Tournament is set to take place this weekend at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, with only two spots left for the women’s competition to complete the draws.

With a total of 32 men’s teams, 24 U21 teams, and 6 women’s teams confirmed for the tournament, including the Japan Sevens Academy as the sole overseas team, fans can expect high-quality rugby action.

The tournament’s media and marketing officer, James Vunituraga, said the competition was expected to be tough and enjoyable for both players and spectators.

“As only two spots remain for the women’s side, the tournament is almost complete, and teams are eager to compete in the second last leg of the Fiji Bitter Series,” said Vunituraga.

Mount Masada, which is made up of players in the Fijiana 7s squad are the favourites to take out the women’s title.

While the weather may play a factor, organisers are hopeful for good conditions during the tournament.

In the event of inclement weather, alternative arrangements may be made to ensure the smooth running of the event.

“The weather also will be a major factor, hope the weather gets better and if it doesn’t the tournament might be shifted, so let’s hope and pray for a good weather,” Vunituraga said.

“Fans in Suva, Nausori, and surrounding villages are encouraged to come out and support the teams as they showcase their skills on the field. The tournament promises to be an exciting display of top-notch rugby talent from both local and international teams.”

The winner in the men’s division will walk away with $6000, while the runner up receives $2500.
