ATS plays an important role in the economy: DPM Prasad

“THE Air Terminal Services Limited (ATS) Fiji must work well together with Fiji Airways and Aviation Fiji Limited to ensure they get the best out of each other.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad, while meeting with ATS Board chair, Ms Shradha Sharma and ATS CEO, Alan Suchin, urged them to work with their partners for the benefit of Fiji and especially the tourism sector.

“ATS plays a very important role in the economy and a crucial part in the overall tourism eco-system with airport ground handling operations including cargo handling, passenger services, engineerin­g and airline cabin and catering services,” he said

“I take this opportunit­y to thank you and the entire board and the management of ATS for the work you have been doing with post pandemic economic recovery.”

DPM Prasad added Fiji has its record visitor arrivals last year and almost every business in the tourism sector made a record profit.

“We rebounded strongly by 20 per cent in 2022 and 8.2 per cent in 2023 and the Fijian economy returned to pre-pandemic levels last year, much faster than we had expected.”

“The outlook looks promising with the economy expected to return to a trend growth of around 3per cent,”he added

The DPM said “while we celebrate this moment of success, we must also recognise the challenges that lie ahead”.

“Having “service with excellence” as ATS vision, let me reinforce the importance of maintainin­g high standards of excellence in your service delivery and I encourage ATS to continue embracing innovation and adapting to evolving industry needs.”

“I have absolute confidence in the continued success of ATS and its pivotal role in shaping the future of aviation industry in Fiji,” he added
