Availability of navigational support for women
THE availability of “navigational support” for women as they pursue their aviation career can provide essential professional guidance and play significant role in building and sustaining an inclusive culture in the aviation industry.
The Fiji Airports chief executive Mesake Nawari took note of this at the launch of a unique network, the Fiji Women in Aviation Network (FWAN) which is set up to bring women together to create synergies and boost collaboration within the aviation industry.
Mr Nawari said the network sets a new standard for driving cultural change in the aviation industry and would allow the development and retention of women in different areas of the industry.
Fiji Airports board director Emele Duituturaga said the industry-led initiative would bring women together to create synergies and boost collaboration within the aviation industry and increase the involvement and visibility of women in the aviation sector.
“The platform aims to advocate gender equity, promote education, training and career opportunities,” Ms Duituturaga said.
“It will also recognise the social responsibilities relating to women and promote cooperation, friendship and understanding through the exchange of knowledge and the dissemination of information.
“We want to be recognised by our regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji and the Ministry of Civil Aviation with a view of creating mutual support and sustainability and to strengthen partnerships with international and regional organisations.”
The network aims to connect aspiring members with seasoned aviation professionals and foster meaningful mentorship relationships that will empower and support women in achieving their aviation career goals across all segments of the aviation industry.
