Hosts in tough pool

DEFENDING champions EMS Tabadamu are hoping to defend their title at their own 3rd Fiji Bitter Series Tabadamu 7s Tournament this weekend at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Coached by former national 7s rep Emosi Mulevoro, the team is ready for battle and is placed in a tough Pool A alongside Ravuka Sharks, Toge Young Boys, and Ram Sami Viria Blues.

The official announceme­nt of the pool draws took place at SportsWorl­d branch at Waimanu Rd in Suva, with the tournament media and marketing officer James Vunituraga expressing confidence in the team’s readiness for the competitio­n.

“The women’s team competitio­n features six teams. Defending men’s champions EMS Tabadamu faces strong competitio­n in their pool as they aim to retain their title,” he said.

“The tournament sponsor, SportsWorl­d, provided the official match ball and trophy, with Paradise Beverages also acknowledg­ed for their support.

“Fans can expect an exciting and competitiv­e weekend of rugby at the Tabadamu 7s Tturnament.”

In the men’s draws, EMS Tabadamu will compete in Pool A along with Ravuka Sharks, Toge Young Boys, and Ram Sami Viria Blues.

Pool B will feature Fiji Bitter Series points leader BLK Lavidi Brothers facing off against Naduruniu, St Gabriel Nakavika, and Kesenavuni­valu.

Pool C will see Police Blue competing against Flametree Colo-i-Suva, Wainimala Babas, and TJS Spares Savuiqali.

Dominion Brothers will be facing AJ Pallets Ba River, Bula Brothers, and Rock City Babas in Pool D. Pool E will feature Army Green, PWD Bure, Ahura Barbarian, and Unity Brothers.

In Pool F, Nahehevia Sevens champions Fire Rugby will clash with Metromix Nasinu, with Tovolea Knights and Nabouwalu Select completing the group.

Pool G will see Japan 7s Academy going up against Tagova Blues, Nakavu Rugby and Nasonini Babas.

The final pool, Pool H, will have Wardens Gold competing against Flametree Waimanu, New Rock Rugby will face Cagimaira Rugby.

For the Women’s draws, Pool A will feature Mount Masada, Navy, and CK Marist Women’s.

In Pool B, SeaHawks, St John Lomary, and Senibiau Women’s will be competing against each other.
