- By MERI RADINIBARAVI

MORE than 350 transactions happen on Vodafone’s online marketplace, VitiKart on a weekly basis, says Vodafone Head of Brands, Marketing and Digital, Saileshni Chand.

VitiKart currently has 107 active merchants who are selling their produce on the platform, and she said, they continue to attract viewers.

“I will just say that we do have stats, like 10,000 visits on a monthly basis. They come to VitiKart just to browse through the products, and they end up buying as well,” Ms Chand said.

“In terms of transactions, on a minimum there’s 350, it goes in a weekly basis. 350 transactions happen on a weekly basis for us.”

She said they also found that majority of their customers are those who are 30 years old and younger.

“We have actually screened them on the gender and age groups as well so I actually should point out that it’s 30 years or less. Mostly younger ones who don’t want to go to retail shops to browse for products.

“They actually do it at their own comfort, and when they’re ready, when they’ve done their homework then they’re going to purchase.”

Ms Chand said prices on items sold through VitiKart are actually cheaper than retail prices and customers have different payment options as well such as MPAiSA and online debit and credit cards.

“You’ll get a discounted range of products. Like when we launched the S24 series recently, we managed to sell 10 of the units within the first week from VitiKart because of the discounts that were offered online.”

Ms Chand also alluded to the possibility of taking the VitiKart platform to other Pacific Island countries in the near future.
