Turukawa appointed as general manager of luxury resort
FIVE-STAR luxury Nanuku Resort Fiji has appointed its former director of rooms Tomasi Turukawa as its new general manager.
Originally from Navuevu Village in Nadroga, Mr Turukawa is banking on his 17 years of hospitality experience to guide him in his new role.
“I feel humbled and blessed to be appointed as general manager for a prestigious luxury establishment. It means a lot to me as I am someone who is passionate about promoting both Nanuku Resort and Fiji as a premier destination for travellers worldwide,” Mr Turukawa told The Fiji Times.
He said his first order of business will be to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current operations, staff, guests feedback and the resort’s financial performance.
“This is my first role as a GM and the responsibility is going to be very different as I will be overseeing the entire resort operation and dealing directly with stakeholders and ownership.
“However, my diverse experiences within the hospitality industry have equipped me with the skills, knowledge and mindset needed to excel as GM, and contribute to the success of the resort.”
Laura Rose, Managing Partner of Storey Hotel Management Group said: “Tomasi is a natural leader who has earned the respect of the Nanuku team and Storey leadership. We are thrilled to watch him succeed in this new position.”
Ms Rose said Mr Turukawa’s wealth of knowledge in the destination and culture of Fiji, and hospitality as a whole, would be a great benefit to his team and future resort guests.
In his new role, Mr Turukawa will oversee the day-to-day operations of the property, including management of the hotel’s executive team and 200-plus employees.
He has held positions at Six Senses, Likuliku, Vomo, and Warwick Fiji, before joining Nanuku Resort Fiji in 2021.
