FORMER Fiji 7s skipper and founder of the Tabadamu Rugby Club, Setefano Cakau, says he is happy with the performance of teams during day one of the Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s in Nausori which started yesterday.

Cakau commended all the teams for participating and was pleased with the good weather on the day, hoping for the same on the final day of the tournament today.

“The tournament is going well, all the teams are here showcasing their talent, something good to see,” said Cakau.

“The weather was bad for couple of days, today we are blessed with sunshine in the morning, hoping for a good weather also in the final day.”

He noted the positive change in this year’s tournament, particularly highlighting the inclusion of a women’s category with six teams displaying their skills.

Cakau anticipated tough competition in the eliminations, with top teams vying for a spot in the finals which will get underway today.

“From the start of the tournament, there has been a good change. Looking at the women’s teams, they’re really doing good, we didn’t have any women’s category last year but this year it is good to see six women’s teams coming out to showcase their talent.

“I’m also impressed with the young players participating, they are really giving their best efforts on the field.”

He also extended his gratitude to the sponsors Fiji Bitter, Vodafone, Walesi, and SportsWorld for their support in making the tournament successful.

“Encouraged spectators to come out and support their teams in the upcoming matches today.
