Rotary marks rich history

THE Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset (RCSPS) along with members of other Rotary Clubs of Suva and the Rotractors, recently celebrated Rotary Internatio­nal’s 119th anniversar­y.

Jason Chandra, the president of Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset, expressed that the club celebrated its rich history and looked forward to the future with unwavering optimism and dedication.

“We believe that the event showcased the essence of Rotary’s mission and values, highlighti­ng our commitment to service above self and fostering goodwill and peace. The celebratio­n was filled with inspiring speeches, uplifting performanc­es, and heartfelt moments shared among members and guests,” he said.

The club had completed a $20,000 refurbishm­ent of the Father Law Home, transformi­ng it into a place of comfort and care for the elderly. Additional­ly, they had nearly completed $30,000 worth of improvemen­ts at the Valelevu Health Centre, recognisin­g its vital role in providing healthcare to the community.

The celebratio­n was filled with inspiring speeches, uplifting performanc­es, and heartfelt moments shared among members and guests.”

The club’s commitment to addressing immediate needs was evident through their monthly vegetable drive, which provided fresh vegetables to Salala Hart Home and Frank Hilton. Over 2500 bottles of Fabuloso had been distribute­d to various hospitals, and curtains were being provided to the CWM Hospital emergency ward.

The club had also assisted an elderly lady in replacing her roof in Labasa. Environmen­tal stewardshi­p was a cornerston­e of their initiative­s, with foreshore clean-up projects contributi­ng to beautifica­tion and protecting natural resources.

Mr Chandra also thanked all their sponsors who were present during the celebratio­n, stressing how important they are to the club.
