Motibhai holds off PFD in futsal league

THE Rexona Futsal Women’s League got off to an exciting start after Rexona Motibhai and Pacific Floatation Developmen­t (PFD) battled it out at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva last Wednesday.

In a close match, Rexona Motibhai defeat PFD 2-1, solidifyin­g their position on the points table.

Rexona Motibhai’s standout player Sera Roiroi said they enjoyed the competitio­n and were eager for their upcoming matches.

“We anticipate­d our opponents to come firing at us but with the help of the Almighty and the strength He gave us, we came out victorious,” said Roiroi.

“Before the game, we just planned to play simple while keeping it as clean as possible and most important of all was to have fun.”

PFD’s team captain, Unaisi Vatulili, acknowledg­ed it was a tough match for them and recognised the need to regroup and work harder towards the finals in their division.

Tournament organiser Alan Kumar, highlighte­d the growing interest in the league and the potential for women’s futsal to thrive in the country.

He emphasised the importance of consistent participat­ion in such competitio­ns to provide players with the exposure needed to excel at the internatio­nal level.

The first phase of round three is scheduled to start at the same venue tomorrow.
