Spartan Race returns to Fiji

FIJI is set to host its second Spartan Race from November 14-17 at the Aviva Race Course in Sabeto, Nadi.

In partnershi­p with the Fiji Government, Fiji Airways and the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Spartan Race returns to Fiji after its successful inaugural event last year.

Spartan Fiji has something for everyone, with signature obstacle races starting at 5K, and building up with 10K, 21K and 50K, as well as a special kids race ranging from 1K to 3K.

There will also be a 10K night trail run, and a 4HR Hurricane Heat team-based event.

The Trifecta includes doing a 5K, 10K and 21K or 50K, to earn an exclusive Trifecta Weekend medal and join the Trifecta Tribe.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka expressed Fiji’s excitement to welcome back the 2024 Spartan event in November.

“The inaugural 2023 Spartan brought more than 3,000 participan­ts together – contributi­ng close to $8 million to Fiji’s economy,” he said.

“We anticipate an even bigger and better event in 2024 and look forward to welcoming more of our internatio­nal participan­ts to Fiji. I also urge Fijians to come in numbers again and support our national vision of promoting health and wellness whilst bolstering Fiji’s economy.”

New managing director and chief executive Russell Nelms who is at the helm of Spartan Australia, New Zealand and Fiji plans to incorporat­e more of the natural tracks surroundin­g the racecourse, and there will also be some exciting new obstacles introduced.

“I am passionate about the brand and is looking forward to pushing Spartan’s mission further to help people live without limits. We want to build on the success of 2023 and make 2024 an even bigger success, showcasing to the world what an amazing location Fiji is.”

The Spartan lifestyle spans more than 40 countries and encompasse­s a global championsh­ip series, training and nutrition programs, health and wellness products and a range of media entities.

In the lead up to the event the event aims to engage the local Fijian community and encourage local participat­ion in the event.
