Call for integrity
THE letter to the editor in The Fiji Times of Saturday, March 16, refers: Arun Prasad’s relentless attempts to discredit the Fiji Teachers Union (FTU) and its members are not only baseless but also reek of personal vendetta and malice. His insinuations regarding the gullibility of union members and their purported lack of awareness are not only offensive but also highly disrespectful to the hardworking educators who form the backbone of our education system of which he was once very much part of.
Furthermore, it’s worth emphasizing that discussions surrounding policies and decisions should always adhere to constitutional frameworks and principles. Any actions taken by the ministry should be in line with legal and ethical standards, with consideration for the welfare of all stakeholders, rather than favouring any particular group.
Furthermore, his suggestion that the FTU should have sought the views of its members before acting is not only laughable but also reveals his ignorance regarding the functioning of democratic organisations. His lack of mandate to speak on union matters is glaringly evident, yet he persists in spreading misinformation and sowing discord.
The FTU stands firm in its commitment to uphold the rights and interests of its members, and decisions are made through a democratic process, not through the whims of individuals with a personal agenda.
In conclusion, Mr Prasad’s incessant attacks on the FTU leadership are nothing more than petty vendettas and attempts to undermine the collective efforts of dedicated educators striving for the betterment of the teaching profession. It’s time for him to accept defeat gracefully and refrain from further attempts to disrupt harmony within the union.
