Treat your loved ones this Easter
EASTER is one of the two most important festivals in the Christian Calendar. The other being Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Bible states that Jesus Christ died on the cross on Good Friday, was buried for three days before being resurrected and coming back to life on Easter Sunday.
For many Christians, Easter begins 40 days before with the season of Lent, a time of devoted prayers, fasting and penitence.
In secular societies, Easter is associated with Easter bunny, decorating, egg hunts and the giving of Easter baskets filled with candy and gifts. However, the true meaning of Easter is:
a) A time to reflect on the meaning of life and the power of love and forgiveness;
b) No matter, how "dark" or "bad" things may seem, there is always hope in the power of resurrection and new beginnings;
c) Jesus Christ conquering its enemies and death and rekindling the hope of millions of Christians that the sins are forgiven with God; and
d) Easter provides the meaning that love is stronger than death.
Besides going to Church, Easter is celebrated throughout the world in many unique ways by Christians and Non-Christians. Some include:
a) Eating Hot-cross buns in Fiji, Australia and New Zealand;
b) Easter is Classified as a "Family Day" in South Africia;
c) Processions occur in Philippines of Jesus
rising from the dead and comforting Mother Mary; and
d) In Germany people decorate tree branches with Easter Eggs, similar to Christmas tree.
