Alors que l’extérieur a été laissé brut, l’intérieur révèle un décor total, aménagé en collaboration avec le designer Réjean. C’est dans ce cadre qu’Hélène Garcia et Émile Degorce-Dumas exerceront la cartomancie, prolongeant l’habitude informelle de tirer les cartes à leurs amis lors de soirées. Le visiteur pourra se faire prédire l’avenir, le sien et celui de l’art contemporain, et laisser parler les cartes créées spécialement pour l’occasion – parmi elles, « premier plan », « croûte » ou « rive gauche ». Une manière de substituer au spectacle devant un public un échange personnel et non productif, où la performance naît de l’oubli d’un des pans qui la constituent, la performance physique. Avec à la clé, pour qui veut bien s’y laisser conduire, un périple intérieur extra-lucide. Minutiae and a certain idea of interiority are points where the personal practices of these two artists intersect. Hélène Garcia (born 1988) admits to a predilection for wallpaper and text, while Émile Degorce-Dumas (born 1986) works in ceramics, so it was a good bet that the first performance they produced together would abandon the stage for harder to see territories. That is certainly the case with Extra-lucide (Clairvoyant), and even doubly so. A double interiority, actually. As part of FIAC Hors les Murs project, each afternoon they receive visitors in a temporary office in front. While they left the exterior of the container as is, the inside is a gem of interior decoration designed in collaboration with Réjean. This is the setting in which Garcia and DegorceDumas perform their card reading, a habit they acquired by fortune telling to amuse friends at parties. Visitors can have the future foretold, their own and that of contemporary art. The special cards were conceived for this exercise including “High profile,” “Daub” and “Left Bank.” Instead of the usual spectacle art offers the public, this is a personal, nonproductive exchange. The performance arises insofar as we forget one of its elements, the physical performance. Those willing to let themselves be taken in hand will experience a glimpse into interior depths.
