ABBESSES : DALÍ PARIS
Delving into Dalí
Une plongée dans l’univers de Dalí
It is in Montmartre that one can discover Dali Paris, a museum and gallery venue showcasing a private collection of over 300 works of Salvador Dali. Here one will find sculptures, engravings, as well as surrealist objects and furnishings made by the artist. Dali Paris offers a journey through the artist’s works, allowing the visitor to embark on the artistic path taken by Dali.
Open since 1991, Dali Paris underwent numerous months of renovations and was reopened to the public in April 2018. This carefully curated collection was founded by Beniamino Levi, one of Salvador Dali’s greatest collectors and art dealers. The museum presents an exhibition that highlights the shapes, distortions, and metamorphosis of objects that can be found in Dali’s works. Illusion played a great part in his artistry, and as a fervent surrealist, Dali enjoyed making the visible invisible and the invisible visible.
The museum’s scenography reveals the different facets of the artist’s creativity, demonstrating how historical, scientific, and technical factors inspired his creation. Dali Paris displays an interesting selection of artworks that showcases the full capacity of Dali’s techniques and abilities as an artist. A unique presentation of the surrealist master, the visitor discovers that Salvador Dali was not only a painter, but also a sculptor, an engraver, a designer…etc. The gallery also offers an additional educational approach on his techniques with its on-site qualified experts.
The gallery of the museum regularly hosts contemporary exhibitions, juxtaposing the imagination of Salvador Dali with contemporary artists. The museum has introduced an exclusive overlap reality feature in its artwork descriptions, allowing the visitor to delve deeper into a profoundly Dalinean universe.

It is an authentic village in the heart and on the heights of Paris. Montmartre with its vineyard, windmills, cobbled streets, artists, eateries and basilica all perched upon a hill remains one of the most charming spots in the city. The vineyard was planted in 1930 and the Clos Montmartre wine can be sampled each autumn during the fun-filled wine harvest festival held in October.
