The threat of the coronavirus pushed Giorgio Armani to show his collection alone, watched only by the cameras. On our screens, an avalanche of black velvet, the maestro’s signature, give a deep, comforting impression. These androgynous women wear mostly trousers, suits and culottes. The subtly squared-off shoulders sign the silhouettes. Dandified high waists, hussar-style double buttoning, large overcoats… As a tribute to China, a final tableau showed twelve models wearing couture pieces created between 2009 and 2019 and inspired by the great Empire.
