Dans un décor reconstitué du Parlement européen, Demna Gvasalia propose une collection façon essai anthropologique. Sur le thème du «power dressing», il caricature les puissants de ce monde: trenchs et tailleurs à épaules larges frôlant la dysmorphie, visages comme sculptés par la chirurgie esthétique, manteau inspiration Cruella, imprimé «Balenciaga News» évoquant la puissance des médias. Ces «winners» inquiétants cohabitent avec les «outsiders», comme ce fétichiste en combi intégrale ou cette femme-cagole urbaine, bijoux fantaisie et robe rose malabar. En conclusion, des robes de bal architecturales et monumentales, hommage à Cristóbal Balenciaga, comme un trait d’union passé-présent.

In a set made to look like the European Parliament, Demna Gvasalia offers an anthropologic essay of a collection. Exploring the theme of ‘power dressing‘, he caricatures the world’s power elite: trenchcoats and suits with shoulders so wide they look almost dysmorphic; Cruella De Vil-stye coats; ‘Balenciaga News’ prints to evoke the power of the media. These disturbing ‘winners’ coexist with ‘outsiders’, like a fetishist in a catsuit or a city bimbo in costume jewelry and a bubble-gum pink dress. The finale culminated with architectural, monumental ball gowns, a tribute to Cristóbal Balenciaga that ties past and present together.
