Winemaker of the Domaine Lucien Tramier (Rhône, France)

-

In 2005, I remember when my stepfather Lucien Tramier asked me on a Friday evening over a festive meal and good bottles of wine, if I wanted to join the family farm. And he concluded with ”Of course I give you time to think… you will give me your answer on Monday”.I could have answered him yes right away, as I was honored and proud to be the 4th generation to perpetuate the know-how of our winegrower family. But like all great wines you have to be patient. Nothing is done in a rush! So I waited until Monday to give my consent. This anecdote is for me the most beautiful vision of the world of wine: families of wine growers who are passionate and in love with their terroirs. Men and women who pass on this cultural and technical heritage from generation to generation. Although technological advances are very present in the work of our vines and in our winery, we strive daily to keep our ancestral know-how. I saw it well during wine trips in Europe, whether the particular breeding of yellow wines in the Jura, the beauty of the landscape in Lanzarote where the vines are surrounded by dry volcanic stones or the size in ”crown” ”in the vineyards of the Santorini Archipelago!
