Made from Forty-year-old vines, in the flintiest of soils in the reputed village of Chavignol, this Pinot Noir is aromatic and intense with exuberant fruity aromas of wild berries and cherries joined by toasted notes and the classic dark mineral character. Domaine Vincent Delaporte - ‘Cul de Beaujo’ 2018

« Clos de Beaujeu » is a clos of vines established by the monks of Beaujeu in the middle Ages on a slope of exceptional Kimmeridgian marl terroir. It’s a unique, dark and concentrated wine with surprising empyreumatic notes of dark chocolate and mocha as well as blueberries and cherries. There’s also an animal character. The body is full and dense, with velvety tannins that are very integrated and smooth. Score : 16/20 (92/100)
Domaine Claude Riffault “La Noue” 2018

‘La Noue’ shows perfumed notes as well as ripe cherry, plum, strawberry, raspberry and mushroom a slight hint of earthiness rounds out the flavor profile. The palate is light-bodied and delicate. The acidity stands out as well as the complexity of flavors and balance. It’s fleshy and supple with good length.

The palate is fruity, fresh and offers gourmandize, an acidulous frame, freshness as well as a certain small tension, precision, fat and a certain gourmandize. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fresh/pulpy strawberry, pulpy cherry, small notes of cornflower associated with touches of fresh/pulpy blueberry, vanilla as well as hints of caramelization and fresh hazelnut. Good length.
