Nikki Haley, US ambassador to the UN, announced last month that the US was withdrawing from the United Nations human rights council. She stressed the fact that the council specifically targeted Israel while ignoring atrocities in other countries like the DRC, Venezuela and Iran. “The world’s most inhumane regimes continue to escape scrutiny and the council continues the politicising and scapegoating of countries with positive human rights records,” she said.
