A strange choice for a pet...

During lockdown, a government campaign encouraged Mexican owners of wild animals not to release them in nature. A zoo therefore found themselves rescuing very strange "pets": a python, a baby manatee as well as 14 green macaws. But the most impressive "donation" of all was Kira, a two and a half year old tiger of 130 kilos, whose owner could not afford to take care of following a coronavirus induced economic downturn. According to the zoo owner, the adopted animals would not have been able to survive in the wild as: "they don't know how to hunt or how to defend themselves".
