The Ellen DeGeneres Show is one of the most famous talk shows on American TV. Since its creation in 2003, it has won 171 Daytime Emmy Awards. Its host, Ellen DeGeneres, is famous for her positive energy, self-deprecating humor and kindness. She is also a female LGBT+ icon – and was one of the first major show hosts to come out on television. However, her brand has recently suffered as some of her former and current employees have denounced the talkshow as a “toxic workplace environment”. Accusations include unfair pay cuts and dismissals as well as DeGeneres turning a blind eye to racist comments and instances of sexual misconduct. The host has published a letter apologizing to her employees and an investigation has been opened regarding the allegations.
