Life is Grand

Durant ces dernières années nous avons eu l’opportunité de visiter des centaines d’établissements à travers l’Europe. Mais le Kameha est sans doute l’un des plus étonnants qu’il nous ait été donné de découvrir et la chance d’y séjourner fut une expérience hors du commun. Situé dans la périphérie dynamique de Zürich (Glattpark), proche de l’aéroport de Kloten mais un peu moins du centre-ville, le Kameha vaut la peine d’être connu, ne serait-ce que pour y prendre un verre ou dîner.

Over the past few years, we’ve had the chance to visit hundreds of hotels across Europe. However, the Kameha is without doubt one of the most amazing hotels we have ever come across and staying there was an extraordinary experience. The Kameha is located in the buzzing outskirts of Zürich (Glattpark), near Kloten Airport and slightly further away from the city centre. It is worth knowing about, if only to go there for a drink or dinner.

Life is Grand. Dès que vous arrivez à proximité de ce bâtiment inclassable, sa façade vous accroche avec cette devise qui s’accorde avec son style mi siège bancaire mi fondation futuriste. Fascination, curiosité, tout vous pousse à y entrer. Kameha ne se veut pas -et il n l’est pas!-un hôtel comme les autres. C’est un voyage plein de surprises qui vous attendent au tournant. On le doit au designer Marcel Wanders qui a réalisé un coup de maître.

Dès l’entrée, dans le hall, le regard est attiré par de grandes cloches stylisées (on est bien en Suisse !)... et le grand escalier. On trouvera au même niveau un grand bar et un « Smoker’s Lounge » très chic .

Le Kameha offre aussi deux restaurants, que nous n’avons pas pu tester pour vous mais il y a de bonnes chances qu’ils soient au diapason. L’Unico, aux saveurs italiennes, et le You, étoilé Michelin, axé cuisine inventive française.

Life is Grand. As soon as you approach this uncategorisable building, its facade catches your eye with the “Life Is Grand” motto. This is in harmony with its architectural style which lies halfway between a bank headquarters and a futuristic foundation. Fascination, curiosity… everything impels you to go in.

The Kameha doesn’t claim to be a hotel like any other – and it isn’t! It is a journey full of surprises which await you around every corner. This is all down to the designer, Marcel Wanders, who has really pulled off a master stroke.

In the entrance lobby, your attention is drawn to the large stylised bells (we’re definitely in Switzerland!)… and the grand staircase. This is also where you’ll find a large bar and an extremely chic Smoker’s Lounge.

The Kameha has two restaurants which we weren’t able to try out for you but there’s every chance that they’ll be in keeping with the hotel. There is L’Unico which offers Italian flavours, and the Michelin-starred You, which focuses on inventive French cuisine.
