Effort under way to make Elaionas camp ready by Tuesday
Work continued yesterday at the site in Elaionas, near central Athens, where refugees currently living in tents in Pedion to Areos park are to be moved. More than 50 prefabricated homes had been moved onto the site by yesterday afternoon as engineers continued to work on connections to the electricity grid and water network. Many of the structures that will be used to house the refugees from Afghanistan and Syria were used in 1999 as temporary homes for the victims of an earthquake. Authorities are aiming for the reception center to be ready by Tuesday.
