A 40-year-old foreign truck driver was arrested at the port of Patra yesterday after being caught carrying an irregular migrant and contraband cigarettes. Authorities said the driver, who was heading for Italy, had 423 packs of undeclared cigarettes in his truck. According to customs officials, the state would have missed out on 13,500 euros in taxes from their sale.
