Briton charged in death of tourist
A 23-year-old Briton was arrested on the island of Crete on Saturday in connection to the death of a 18-year-old compatriot who was found dead in his room in the village of Sissi in Lasithi on Thursday. According to the case file, the suspect was facing charges of causing fatal injuries to the victim after a postmortem examination showed that the 18-year-old died after sustaining serious head injuries.
According to the ongoing police investigation, the two young men had an altercation in the popular tourist area of Malia early on Thursday, where, according to witness accounts, the suspect allegedly punched the victim in the face and the 18-year-old fell to the ground, hitting his head. The 23-yearold was scheduled to face a prosecutor over the weekend.
