TaxisNet failure to be investigated

-

Alternate Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis has blamed the General Secretariat of Public Revenue for the problems with the TaxisNet electronic tax return system which prompted the government to issue an extension to the deadline for individuals and businesses to file tax returns.

According to an announcement by the alternate minister, the deadlines for tax submissions have been extended to August 28 for legal entities and August 30 for individuals due to the problems that the TaxisNet system has been experiencing.

“With all due respect to the executives who are working around the clock to provide IT support to the ministry, I am forced to investigate whether the problem that occurred was technical or of another nature,” Alexiadis said.

“TaxisNet displayed serious operational problems on August 19 and 20 which are impacting the timely and reliable collection of tax returns. To this end, I have asked for recommendations from the General Secretariat of Public Works and the General Secretariat of Information Systems,” he added.

The statement concluded that the ministry was trying to deal with the issue within a constrained economic and political climate.
