A man on Samos received a suspended four-year prison sentence for inadvertent arson that destroyed large tracts of forestland on the island on July 8. The 46-year-old, who accidentally started the fire while welding, was also fined 3,000 euros. His son, who also stood trial on the same charge, was found innocent.
