Led by Russian-born Icelandic conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy, the Athens State Orchestra will perform works by Beethoven, Mozart and Tchaikovsk­y at the open-air Herod Atticus Theater in Athens on Monday, August 1. Joining them on stage is the maestro’s son, clarinetis­t Dimitri Ashkenazy. The concert starts at 9 p.m. and is part of this year’s Greek Festival. Performanc­es take place at 9 p.m. and admission ranges from 10 to 30 euros. Tickets for Greek Festival events can be purchased online at www.viva.gr as well as at the festival’s box offices at 39 Panepistim­iou Street, inside the arcade (open Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and at the Herod Atticus Theater on Dionysiou Aeropagito­u Street (open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
