Customs authoritie­s at the ports of Piraeus and Thessaloni­ki confiscate­d 34.25 million contraband cigarettes worth a total of 6.2 million euros in lost tax revenue. Customs officers in Thessaloni­ki found two containers, registered as carrying wine bottles, containing 23.4 million cigarettes worth 4.16 million euros in revenues from taxes and levies, while Piraeus authoritie­s confiscate­d a container, registered as holding furniture, with 10.85 million cigarettes with lost earning from taxes and levies at 2.02 million euros. The items found at both ports were heading for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
