Almost one in two Greeks say they don’t want the state to sever ties with the Church, according to a poll published in the Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper yesterday. The survey conducted by ProRata, revealed that 46 percent of Greeks said they would not like to see ties cut, while 38 percent want the current status between the two institutio­ns to remain intact. Forty-two percent said they want the state to pay priests’s salaries, as is currently the case, while an almost equal number, 40 percent, said they don’t.
