Delacroix Directs 1821

-

> Thessaloniki > To January 31

The Teloglion Foundation in Thessaloniki presents “Delacroix Directs 1821,” an exhibition exploring the work of French artist Eugene Delacroix (17981863). Even though the artist never visited Greece, he was deeply affected by the country’s War of Independence in 1821 and created two landmark paintings, “The Massacre at Chios” and “Greece on the Ruins of Missolonghi.” The exhibition, which includes original Delacroix works as well as a copy of “The Massacre at Chios,” explores the creation and the impact of these two particular works. Opening hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The show runs through January 31.
