Party sues presenter for school raid remarks

-

An Athens prosecutor yesterday was expected to examine a lawsuit filed by Golden Dawn against popular daytime TV host Tatiana Stefanidou over comments she made on her show on Epsilon TV earlier in the week in reference to the neo-Nazi party’s MP Yiannis Lagos leading a raid on a school in the Piraeus district of Perama where refugee children are to attend classes. Accusing Lagos of employing bullying tactics, Tatiana hung up the phone on a caller defending Golden Dawn’s presence at the school, saying she would not allow her show to be used as a platform in support of such actions. In a statement later in the day, leftist SYRIZA noted that “fascism and racism have no place in Greek society” and that attempts by Lagos and others to “obstruct the right of refugees to education and to censor journalists” would be in vain.
