Members of groups opposing the mining of gold at Skouries in Halkidiki, northern Greece, held a march in Thessaloniki on Saturday to express solidarity with 21 people who will stand trial today for an arson attack in 2013 at a work site of Hellas Gold, the company managing the mines. Demonstrators held signs demanding an end to the mining activity in the area and pledged solidarity with the people on trial. “We are fighting for the future of our land and they drag us to court,” one banner read.
