Karamanlis seen keeping distance from Antonaros
Figures close to former premier Costas Karamanlis have distanced themselves from controversial comments by ex-government spokesman Evangelos Antonaros, halting talk of disputes within New Democracy.
Sources close to Karamanlis suggested Antonoras was expressing a personal view when he attacked conservative party vice president Adonis Georgiadis via social media. The comments led to ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis ousting him from the party.
Kathimerini understands ND MP Kostas Achilleas Karamanlis, a cousin of the former prime minister, is due to publicly confirm that Antonaros’s comments do not reflect the ex-Greek leader’s views.
