Safety vowed as flights resume
With Greece resuming international flights today in a bid to save its hospitality and tourism sectors, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has insisted that it will welcome visitors without discounting safety rules.
Speaking during a visit to the popular island of Santorini, he told journalists, “We have made the best possible preparation,” and expressed certainty that “everything will go well in the end.”
“It is also very important to show this image of security and organization to visitors who come to Greece in the summer,” he added.
Tourism is crucial to the Greek economy, accounting for some 18 percent of the country’s GDP.
