Misconduct charges filed
An Athens prosecutor has summoned five officials from the Taxiarches clinic in Peristeri, western Athens, to testify over charges of criminal misconduct following a deadly cluster of coronavirus cases among elderly patients at the facility, staff and visitors. A total of 28 people were in April found infected with the novel coronavirus at the private clinic, which specializes in treating kidney conditions. Of those 28 confirmed cases, 13 patients died as a result of the clinic management’s alleged failure to comply with health protection protocols, according to the prosecutor. The suspects face prison sentences ranging from 10 years to life for manslaughter through gross negligence.
