Turkey’s central bank unexpectedly halted a nearly year-long easing cycle on Thursday by keeping its key interest rate unchanged at 8.25% and citing upward pressure on inflation through the coronavirus pandemic. With inflation running at 11.4%, Turkey’s real interest rate is already well into negative territory.
