Three young Britons are being questioned by police on the Ionian island of Corfu over the death of a 60-year-old British holidaymaker who was hit by the propeller of a speedboat while swimming, local media reported yesterday. According to Corfupress.gr, the suspects were taken in for questioning based on the accounts of witnesses who allegedly saw the incident on Monday at Avlaki beach. The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Claire Glatman, a mother of four who had been on vacation with her husband and one of her children. The speedboat left the scene of the accident, according to witnesses, who said the coast guard responded immediately but were unable to resuscitate Glatman. An autopsy is expected to reveal the cause of her death, though initial reports point to severe blood loss. The coast guard has reportedly confiscated a speedboat belonging to the family of one of the three suspects. The family of the suspect in question owns a villa near where the speedboat was found, in the resort of Agios Stefanos.
