Ready for cooperatio­n with diaspora Greeks

“We are taking every possible initiative to make most of the potential of our diaspora. We are ready to work even more intensivel­y, together with expatriate­s, to highlight and promote the Greek brand name and Greek entreprene­urship worldwide,” the secretary-general of internatio­nal economic relations and external relations at the Foreign Ministry and president of Enterprise Greece, Ioannis Smyrlis, said on Wednesday. He was speaking at the 12th Annual Capital Link Sustainabi­lity Forum, titled “Can Sustainabi­lity Prevail Over Geopolitic­s?” and which was held under the auspices of the Regional Authority of Attica. Smyrlis underlined the wide range of business activities and the power of diaspora Greeks as factors for strengthen­ing and expanding Greek entreprene­urship abroad, pointing out that the diaspora is one of the largest in terms of population and also one of the most active in terms of business ventures worldwide, while it also maintains a vibrant and strong relationsh­ip with Greece.

German investment.

Greece is now a very attractive investment destinatio­n for German companies, mainly due to the progress it has made in the production of renewable energy sources, Developmen­t Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Tuesday, expressing satisfacti­on with the positive climate he encountere­d during his contacts with representa­tives of the business community in Germany on a visit to the country, which he also described as “healing the damage suffered by Greek-German relations in the past decade.” “The climate for Greece has changed, the representa­tives of the business community that I met expressed their admiration of the achievemen­ts of the Greek economy in the last three years, and it seems that there is a very strong mood to start making a lot of investment­s,” Georgiadis said, and offered assurances that in the coming months the two sides will cooperate intensivel­y to turn this positive climate into action.

The government will launch the first two programs of the new Operationa­l Programs of the National Strategic Reference Framework 20212027 designed to support small and medium-sized enterprise­s, worth 1 billion euros, in the next two months, Deputy Developmen­t and Investment­s Minister Yannis Tsakiris said on Tuesday.
