Regal Sports lends support to RCA’s Sports developmen­t drive

The efforts of Rawle’s Communicat­ion Agency (RCA) in further enhancing the sporting developmen­t of the youths of Region Eight was boosted recently with a timely donation of a number of sporting equipment from Regal Sports.

The simple but timely donation was made at Regal Stationary and Computer Centre at its 69 Seaforth Street, Campbellvi­lle Georgetown office and was witnessed by the Managing Director of the company along with a number of players from Regal Sports Club.

Among the items donated were footballs, cricket bats, a pair each of batting pads and wicket keeping pads, Wicketkeep­er gloves, batting gloves, chess sets, badminton rackets, basketball­s and cricket balls.

According to a press release, Sport developmen­t within Region Eight has been on an aggressive push since the appointmen­t of the Regional Executive officer (REO) Rafel Downes who has been encouragin­g various communitie­s to form clubs and sporting groups. since his appointmen­t.

He has gotten the RDC to play pivotal roles in the staging of a number of events and competitio­ns primarily tapeball and football.

He has further improved relationsh­ips with Region 9 to such an extent that shortly the staging of the Hinterland Games among a number of the hinterland regions is expected to take place.

Members of Regal Sports said that they are happy that their team could play a role in helping to make sports more accessible with the donation of some critically important equipment.

“We are very happy to be giving back and that is why we readily agreed to assist when the request was made,” a club member said.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Regal Stationary and Computer Store, Mahendra Hardyal said that giving back continues to be one of the primary principles that he lives his life by.

He said that he has been very impressed with the work of the REO and his team. This, he said has encouraged him to lend a helping hand as he firmly believes that sports developmen­t requires the assistance of all and not just the private sector.

“To see the REO integrally involved in the developmen­t of sports among the youths there is just amazing. This, I must admit has fuel my interest in supporting the region in whatever way that we can as we believe that if all plays their role then the future of our youths would be more secured o have committed to support as with all playing their rile then it would help in eradicatin­g some of the challenges faced today by youths,” Hardyal said

It was disclosed that some of the items donated would be used to stage a Day of Sports on May 26th in Mahdia where a number of teams will be contesting in tape ball and football. The competitio­ns which are being staged in associatio­n with the RDC will be sponsored by the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples Affairs Ministry, Region Nine RDC Chairman Bryan Allicock, Guytrac and James Bond among others will see a number of trophies being up for grabs.
