When the Sun shines on one side of the Earth, the other side is in darkness. Have you ever known of cricket being played in any country during the day and we are listening to it being broadcast at the same time but at night? Yes, that happens when the country is on the opposite side of the Earth from us, the opposite hemisphere.

Revolution of the Earth
The movement of the Earth around the sun in its orbit is called revolution. This movement of the earth is also from west to east. It takes one year (365¼ days) to make this revolution.
The orbit of the Earth around the sun is elliptical and not circular. Due to this, the distance between the Earth and the sun keeps changing.
